Director’s Notes

When you reminisce about high school, what are the things you remember? What grade you got in your math class junior year? All the relationships you had? Sure, yea you might. However, the one thing you do remember most of all is the bonds you make and the friendships that come with it. Being a part of the Alchemist Theatre Company for all four years was truly a blessing. I saw my first show, Theatre Revue 2013, in 8th grade, and it changed my whole perspective on theatre in general. I couldn’t wait for my chance to sing and dance with an amazing drama club like this.
Freshmen year, awkward, alone, afraid, and worried if I would be accepted into the Alchemists, but this club is so welcoming and treated more like a family rather than just another drama club. Three years later, my mother is giving me suggestions on what skits I should be doing the next time around. I could ramble on and on about this club, but this is not why you’re here reading this (hopefully there are people actually reading this, which if you are I thank you). You’re reading this because you want to hear what this show was like through a director’s point of view. So here I go
FREAKING AMAZING! Having to go up and direct your peers was the scariest thing at first. Again, you’ll never meet a more welcoming group like these fine fellows I like to call my family. They made it the most awesome thing I could have done in high school.  One thing I like about this Theatre Revue specifically though is the personalities in the skits. So many times in this show you see these guys shine. People who 5 years ago would have never been able to sing alone on stage, now, they’re about to be cheerleaders, interns, school children, and end up themselves all in a 2 hour show.
This show would not have been possible without the help of some very important people. First, the lighting and sound people: without you guys, we on stage would not look/sound as good as we do today. The Production team and Backstage Crew: you make the show go round, and I’m extremely grateful for all you have done to make this show run. Mr. Angstreich: for making this show come to life with music. Mrs. Suchocki: without your experience in costuming, I don’t think any of us would look as amazing as we do. Mr. Haber: for leading the crew in making the amazing sets. Ms. Mo: for taking beautiful pictures of the cast and for always making my “caught off guard” headshot amazing for 9 shows. Lastly, Mr. Chesler: I never tell you how thankful I am for all you have given me these past 2 months. You’ve showed me a different side to theatre I truly could not have imagined doing, and I’ll never forget this moment.
Finally, I’d like to thank the cast. Without these amazingly talented, funny, outgoing, loving people you would not be watching the show you’re about to see. This show is fantastic, and I can’t wait for you to see it. Dwight Schrute once said, “I am ready to face any challenge that might be foolish enough to face me”. This is how I describe the cast of Theatre Revue.  They have been through some hard and stressful times, but after this, they can face anything that is thrown at them. Enjoy the show.

Advisor’s Notes

Good evening and welcome to Theatre Revue 2017!

Every so often I feel it is my duty to explain the title of this production. The first part, I think is obvious, although a bit misleading, since not everything you see tonight is from the theatre. There is a long history in Theatre Revue’s of skits from Saturday Night Live and Monty Python. More recently we have added Mad TV and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Why theatre and not theater? Well, it just seems classier that’s all! As for “Revue”, that is not a special spelling. Review means to go over something, as in “I hope all my students reviewed their notes for the big test that is coming up”. A revue is defined as any entertainment featuring skits, dances, and songs…see, a perfect fit! Thus endeth the lesson!

No matter how you spell it, no Alchemist production means anything without the wonderful students who are the Alchemists. There are 60 students performing on stage, plus another 25 working backstage, lighting, sound and production; that is a tremendous number of students who have given their time and effort to this labor of love. And it truly is a labor of love as some of them have been planning their skits our since last year (or even earlier) and if they didn’t love doing this, it would not be worth that time and effort to do this! Special recognition goes to the students who are in charge of this production- Frankie and Chris directing, Nicole backstage and Isabel producing. Not only did they have to get the entire production up and running, but work on their own stuff as well. Also, special thanks to Lyndsey Farrell and Isabelle Bongiovanni for helping to choreograph the full cast numbers

Thank you to the Mrs. Suchocki and Mr. Haber for all the effort they put in behind the scenes.  Thank you to Mr. Marty Angstreich for coming back to the Alchemists and musically directing and accompanying us so wonderfully.  Completing our Theatre Revue Band for the second time is Alchemist alum, Liam McGeary, adding in the percussion to our efforts!  As always, Ms. Morrison for her pictures, Mr. Clark and the NBTHS Administration for their support, Mrs. Knox and the custodial staff for their help, and Dr. Zychowski and the Board of Education for their continued advancement of the arts, are a part of this production.

It is Astonishing that is time for another Weekend Update by The Nicest Kids in Town; I mean are we in a Time Warp or something? We couldn’t Fight This Feeling, because this is just something we were Born to Do in our own Corner of the Sky; after all We’re All Made of Stars. We Know It’s Today here in The Girls Room at Camp Winnipasaukee. We are just a bunch of Dancin’ Fools who will try desperately to be Smooth during our Cell Block Tango because we will be totally Stuck at Seventeen and we don’t want to have a whole Argument Clinic and have to Stick it to the Man. And whether you are going Sailing, on a Blind Date (Can I Have Yo’ Numba’?) or have even had a Near Death Experience, we Can’t Even imagine not making Something That Would Last since we don’t Want to Go Back to College; we will finish A Little More Homework and then our Book Report.

Enjoy Theatre Revue 2017!

Advisor- Alchemist Theatre Company

Who’s Who Amongst the Seniors

Caitlin Barbato has been a member of the prod squad throughout her high school career. Even though she is pretty darn quiet (at least in school), she is a sweet person who has enjoyed her time with the Alchemists. Break a leg everyone!

Zuzanna Budak is very excited to be going on her fourth year with the Alchemists. This is the second year she is performing onstage. Her first time onstage was in Anything Goes as part of the ensemble.  She is very excited to be in three skits and breaking out of her shell. In previous years, Zuzanna has worked backstage, production, and doing makeup for the cast. At the end of her high school career she is going to be attending Middlesex County College. She would like to thank her family and friends for all the support they have given her throughout the years. And she is deeply saddened to be leaving a family she has grown so close with. Break a leg everyone!

Stephanie Drake is 17 years old and has been a member of the Alchemist Theatre Company since her sophomore year. She will be majoring in fashion merchandising starting in the fall of 2017. This will also be her first time on stage after being a part of production since she joined the Alchemists!

Indira Euceda is a senior at NBTHS and she is proud to be a part of her second and final Theatre Revue. She joined the Alchemist’s production crew her junior year along with her closest friends. She would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Chesler, the prod squad, and everyone else who made the Alchemists a great high school experience. Indira would also like to thank her mom for always saying “yes” when she asked to stay after school for meetings. She will surely miss being a part of the Alchemists, and all of the laughter she shared with her friends.

Micaiah Fox is ecstatic to have devoted three hours total over the past month in preparation for his second Alchemist production. At his prior school, the shows in which he was cast included Mud, River, Stone, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. In his first time working with the members of the cast of Theatre Revue, Micaiah has learned a lot about bottle flipping, dabbing, insulting, and other such indispensable skills. He looks forward to participating in more Alchemist shows in the future.

Leslie Herrera is a senior, and she has been a part of the Prod Squad since junior year. She joined because of the influence of her friends and has been so grateful for the Alchemist family since joining. Though she always gets overwhelmed selling tickets she wouldn't want to be doing anything else. She'd like to thank Mr. Chesler, the Prod Squad, and the rest of the Alchemist for always being so loving and making her junior and senior years so unforgettable!

Nicole Jimenez (Backstage Manager) *really awesomely corny cow joke goes here* Nicole is ecstatic to be involved in her 11th Alchemist show. While she is saddened that this is her last Theatre Revue, since she is currently a senior, she is super excited to continue her final year with this show. Nicole is also currently the Vice President of this club. She is extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to serve on the executive board with such an amazing group of people. Last but not least, Nicole would like thank Mr. Chesler, Mr. Haber, Ms. Suchocki, Ms. Mo, and the headset squad for making this show possible. Break legs everybody!

Kylie Knight is a senior that has spent all four years in the Alchemists, but this is her first time on stage. She is thrilled to be on stage with some her best friends: Noah, Isabel, Nathalie and Chris. Not only is she a part of the Alchemists but she also participates in Marching Band/Color Guard, NHS, and SGO. She must admit though that the Alchemists is one of her favorite groups and would like to give a big thanks to her parents for being so supportive of her. Enjoy the show!

Adeola Kukoyi is a senior at NBTHS and The Alchemist Theatre Company has been such a blessing. She never thought that she’d know how to use power tools, build a set from scratch, and watch all the hard work she, along with other people, put in to every production come to life. Theatre Revue '17 is her 11th show with the Alchemists and she is amazed to see so many talented people come together and put on a show that is entertaining, funny, and really emotional. Adeola knew right from Harvey that this was definitely something she was going to continue to be a part of for the rest of high school. She has made so many friends and they’ve become a family and there are people here she didn't know before and now she can't think of what she’d do without them. Adeola has always in the backstage crew (and still is), but for the first time, she is onstage performing two full cast number and she even has a solo in one of them. She is so excited for this show and is proud of everyone who's worked so hard to be here. She loves that she can proudly say that she is an Alchemist. Adeola wants to wish good luck to everyone who's participated in the production of this show and to say thank you for being wonderful to her. Also, a special thank you to Mr. Chesler, Mr. Haber, Mrs. Suchocki, and Ms. Mo for making this one of the best parts of high school. Enjoy the show!

Justin Kyle is feeling very bittersweet. He has been behind the scenes ever since Theatre Revue 2015 but he will finally be making his first appearance on stage. Though he may be a bit shy he is excited and proud to have experienced life with the Alchemists. Justin would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Chesler, Mr. Haber, Nicole, Mrs. Suchocki, and Ms. Mo. Break legs everyone. Spotlight!

Erin LaVielle is so excited to be a part of her first Alchemist production! Even though Frankie Marrone has been telling her to do it all four years she thought it was finally time to give it a shot! You may have seen her around town as a member of the NBTHS Honors choir, SGO, or as a diligent Member of DECA. She would like to thank Mr. Chesler, Ms. Suchocki, Mr. Haber and Ms. Mo for helping the Alchemists put on this production. She would also like to thank her best bud Chris Meyer for writing her bio!! Now all Erin wants you to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the show!!!

Frankie Marrone (Director) feels bittersweet about being in his fourth and final Theatre Revue with the Alchemists. You may have seen him as Neleus in Mary Poppins, Billy Crocker in Anything Goes, Smee in Peter and the Starcatcher, or as Sara in the hit skit “Ew!” from Theatre Revue 2015 and 2016. Frankie is a senior and has been involved in 14 Alchemist productions! He will be attending Middlesex County College in the fall. He would like to thank Mr. Chesler, Mr. Haber, and Mrs. Suchocki, the crew, the Prod Squad, Chris Meyer and Noah van Vliet, the senior class of 2017, and his friends and family for all their love support and for everything they have done to make this show the success that it is. But most importantly, he would like to thank the cast for making his last Theatre Revue the most memorable Alchemist experience ever. “But I’m not ready to put down my pencil just yet.”  Enjoy the show!

Chris Meyer (Assistant Director) is very excited to be a part of his 11th Alchemist show and to be performing in his 4th and final Theatre Revue! You may remember him as Robertson Ay from Mary Poppins or maybe from the Theatre Revue 2016 skits "Santa Fe" and "Before You Punch Me". Chris would like to thank Mr. Chesler, Mr. Haber, Mrs. Suchocki, Ms. Mo, and Frankie for helping him and the rest of the cast kick butt and take names through the production of this show! Chris would also like to thank the Alchemists for all of their love and support, and allowing him to come into his own these past 4 years! Everyone involved in this production worked incredibly hard to make this the best they could! Chris would also like to recognize the senior Moms (Especially Mrs. Marrone, Mrs. van Vliet, and his own Mom!) for putting up with the crazy schedules, constant musical outbursts, and inside jokes that they probably didn't understand. He also hopes they won't cry too much. Finally, Chris would like to thank you for coming to see the show he and his cast mates put all of their effort into these past few months! Now sit back, relax and get ready, because "We all have a little more homework to do!"

Nathalie Pereda is a senior at NBTHS and is excited to be a part of her 7th Alchemist show. She has been a member of prod squad but this year decided to be on stage and do all the full cast numbers and be in ”Cell Block Tango” since she loves to sing and dance! She would like to thank everyone that makes the show possible. She will miss being a member of the Alchemists!

Megan Pelszynski is thrilled to be in her first Alchemist production! Just like Erin, Frankie has been telling her to do it all 4 years of high school, and she finally gave in. Megan is a part of SGO as well as being involved in DECA, and playing softball here at NBTHS. Megan plans to be a teacher in the future. She would like to thank all of her friends and family for all of their love and support. She would most importantly thanks Frankie Marrone for writing her fantastic bio. Enjoy the show!

Adam Seidman is excited to be on the lighting crew for his fourth and final Theatre Revue. He would like to thank everyone who has worked with him on past productions for putting up with him. He would also like to specifically thank Ashley Garcia, Kruthika Vetriselvan, and Michelle Kim for listening to his many extravagant, punny, and silly ideas his first three years in the Alchemists. Good luck to the entire class of 2017 and a break a leg!

Gregory Taylor is thrilled to be a part of the Alchemist production of Theatre Revue 2017. Greg is a senior at NBTHS and can’t wait to take part in his last Theatre Revue. Greg has appeared in this year’s Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, Wedding Song, Theatre Revue 2016 and helped out backstage for Mary Poppins. Greg would like to thank Mr. Chesler, Frankie and Chris for the time they put into making this production the amazing show it is. He also wants to thank the cast and crew for all the hard work they put in. To the cast…break some legs!

Nikita Verma is a senior and has been a part of production for four years now. Being in Alchemists was such a great experience for her that she knows she will never forget. She would like to thank the prod squad for a memorable four years and the rest of Alchemists for great opportunities. Best of luck to all cast and crew!

Noah van Vliet feels bittersweet about being in his final Theater Revue. This will be his 16th production with the Alchemists and his 4th Theater Revue. He, like many seniors, has been planning for this Theater Revue since last Theater Revue, and even a little before. He hopes to continue acting as a career and someday maybe make it big. That, or become a really good waiter; so wherever life takes him!

Isabel Wood (Producer) is in her final year with The Alchemist Theatre Company. She is finally making her onstage debut whilst leading her "prod squad”.  She is excited to give it her all. She gives a special thanks to her executive board for helping her all year. In addition, Izzy would like to give a shout out to production for exceeding expectations. Break legs cast and crew!
